Oynque A delightful retro soundtrack to a very good game. The music stands on its own merits and as such I plan to listen to it while not playing the game. Favorite track: Leisure Pleasure.

about

Working on Automachef has in many ways been a very special experience for me. It was my second game with Hermes Interactive developer Federico Cascares, the first one being Winds of Trade released back in 2017. Having grown up with Amiga games like Worms and Project-X, it was a bit surreal to suddenly have Team 17 join our team as a partner and publisher. The following streaming and press coverage has completely blown my mind, not to speak of getting the chance to cooperate with Nintendo and Twitch Prime.

Automachef is a video game set in the mid/late 60s about creating fully automated kitchens. I wanted the music to be jolly, whimsical, optimistic, relaxed, harmless and almost naiive, as I felt that suited both the kitchen setting and the colourful aesthetics of the game. I also wanted it to feel like something that could have been heard on radio stations like the BBC Light Programme or as part of production music libraries during the 1960s.

Automachef has allowed me to dive into and discover a treasure trove of music from the 1930s-1960s, fill my head with it and attempt to compose as if I was living over half a century ago. I hope you enjoy the fruits of it!
